As part of measures to ensure peace and security on campus, the Management of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has handed over a Police post to the Sunyani Divisional Police Command at a short ceremony held at the premises of the facility.
The Post which is stationed on campus would collaborate with the University Security Service to ensure the safety and security of staff, students, University property as well as the University Community in their daily activities on campus.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako in an address expressed his satisfaction at the work done by the University management in collaboration with the Student Representative Council (SRC). He was hopeful the Police Post would create a secured environment to facilitate effective activities of teaching and learning on campus.
Prof. Asare-Bediako thanked the Bono Regional Police Service for their continuous security support for the University. He hinted that management would liaise with the Police to organise a workshop on personal safety for staff and students. He advised all members of the University Community to be conscious of their security while on campus.
The Dean of Students, Dr. Donimic Otoo giving a short statement on behalf of the student governing body said that the SRC is ready to support the course of ensuring peace and security on campus. He added that information would be provided when necessary to achieve a common goal of combating crime in the University.
In a brief remark, the Divisional Commander, ACP Thomas K. Tindow stated that uniformed policemen and plain cloth men would be assigned to the post to render a 24-hour security service to the University community. He assured the assistance of Police to help curb and address any criminal incidence on campus. He admonished all to report any security case on campus to the police at the post for further investigations.
