Queen Mother of Seikwa Traditional Council Calls for Removal of Refuse from the Seikwa Market

The Queen Mother of Seikwa Traditional Council has called for the removal of refuse at the main market at Seikwa.

On Monday April 26th 2021, the Member of Parliament for Tain Constituency, Hon. Sulemana Adama paid a courtesy call on the Seikwa Traditional Council.

The Member of Parliament for the past days, has embarked on a series of interactions with the Chiefs, opinion leaders, identified groups and the communities in a program dubbed ''thank you tour'' across the length and breath of Tain Constituency.

The Member of Parliament, Hon Sulemana Adama, used the opportunity to thank them for their warmth reception and encouragement during the 2020 General Elections' campaign.

At a visit by the Member of Parliament to the Traditional Council, the Council expressed its gratitude to him for being appreciative and urged him to continue the good work he has started in order to make his second term bid easier.

The Queen Mother, Obaahemaa Akosua Kyeraa II, tasked the MP to make request from the District Assembly so that their share of the revenue collected from the market will be given to the Council, to help it get rid of the refuse which has taken over the market if the Assembly will not bother to do that.

"Hon. MP, we have a serious challenge at the market, refuse is taking over all the place and several efforts to the District Assembly to evacuate it has proved futile. If the Assembly is not taking it off, they should make available to us our share of the revenue they collect from the market, this has been our request and yet no action has been taken by the District Assembly", the Queen Mother lamented.

They further requested that the abandoned Police Station project be completed to ensure safety in the town and its environs.

To the surprise of the MP, the project started by the then NDC administration was abandoned and a new one started which is also not completed.

Together with the MP were the Constituency Organizer Sulemana Baba Osman, the Deputy Youth Organizer Martin Frimpong, the Women Organizer Afriyie Nkansah and the IT Technician Ernest Kwadwo Appiah
