Teachers must be seen as the brain behind development - Wenchi MP

 




The Wenchi Chapter of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) on Thursday, April 22, 2021 held its 6th Quadrennial Delegates Conference in the Wenchi Municipality.


The Quadrennial Delegates Conference was also to elect new executives of the Association to steer its affairs for the next four years of service. 


The election saw the likes of Mr Abdulai Abdul Mumin Carlos, the incumbent Youth Coordinator for the association retained his position at the end of the election together with new faces to constitute the next executive members for the association.


At the forum at the 6th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of Ghana National Association of Teachers [GNAT] in the Wenchi Municipality, the Member of Parliament for Wenchi Constituency, Hon. Seidu Haruna thanked the teachers in the Wenchi municipality for the roles they continue to play to improve the quality of education in the municipality.


According to the Member of Parliament  ''the era where teachers were motivated by words alone has been a thing of the past and that teachers have to be considered the brain behind the development of a nation''.


Speaking on the theme; “Teachers contribution towards nation building,” Hon. Seidu Haruna said all the necessary things needed by teachers to ensure smooth teaching and learning process must be provided to teachers to achieve their goals for the betterment of the nation.



To ensure smooth running of the activities of the Ghana National Association of Teachers in the Wenchi Municipality, Hon. Seidu Haruna donated an amount of Five Hundred Cedis [Gh¢500] to the association and assured the teachers of his support.
